Professional Background
One hundred percent Polish; both parents born in the United States; both grandparents born in Poland and became legal citizens of the United States after arriving through Ellis Island. My grandfather was a chemist educated in Poland and started the South Bend, Indiana Window Cleaning Company. My father was an attorney, and my mother an accomplished pianist. My father was the first President of the Chopin Fine Arts Club in South Bend, Indiana

Developed the $50M budget and helped supervise the overall design and construction of the multi-story Jack C. Greene Radiological Instrumentation Test Facility, FEMA, Mt. Weather, Virginia; maintained national standards testing of radiological instrumentation and testing of devices for protection of the national Emergency Broadcast System
Program manager for development and enhancement ($25 million+) of a state-of-the-art FEMA National Response Coordination Center for Interagency coordination, and decision making, for response operations during a Presidential Disaster Declaration (2004-2006)
Provided Congressional testimony on FEMA’s Catastrophic Disaster Response Program for the New Madrid Seismic Zone and a Category 5 Hurricane impacting the State of Florida (2005-2008)
Worked with the Governor’s Office of the State of Florida and Emergency Management Division, Congressmen and Senators, to develop, supervise and manage a $27 million+ program, which supported improving emergency management capabilities across the State for the impact of a Category 5 Hurricane following the 2004 Hurricane Season; communities included Miami, Dade County and their leadership (continuing to maintain those relationships)
Managed the 8 State New Madrid Seismic Zone Catastrophic Disaster Planning Initiative ($24 million+) in the Midwest, which potentially could impact the entire nation
Previously served as policy advisor and Director of the FEMA Emergency Support Team (EST), coordinating interagency Federal response for Presidential Declared Disasters/Emergencies, which occurred from the Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995 through 2010 (included Hurricane Katrina)
